The headline "Council votes to lay off 12 workers" is woefully inaccurate and misleading.
Council did not vote to lay off anyone, instead council voted to eliminate 12 positions. Council can only hire and fire the borough manager and police chief. Council cannot lay off employees.

I am very upset that at last nights meeting Council shied away from balancing this budget again....we cannot tax our way out of a recession but we can chase people from this town by taxing them to death...Council needs to eliminate more positions...cut costs wherever it can...even micro manage this budget down to telephone costs if necessary. You think this year is tough? I can guarantee you next year will be worse.
Jeff, I couldn't agree more with you. Please know that we are at the very beginning stages of a complete financial restructuring in the borough. With the Early Intervention Program (EIP) being initiated in January, we will have a solid financial and management plan that will serve us for the next 5 years.
